The Distribution Challenge

(And why we’re building around it)

We thought the hard part would be the tequila.

Turns out, it was distribution.

Retail was our original plan: bring Casa JAMEX to Jamaica, get bottles on shelves and behind bars, and build from there.

So we started talking to distributors early.

That’s when we discovered the problem.

Several distributors we approached already had agreements with major spirits companies that restricted them from carrying another tequila brand. It didn’t matter that Casa JAMEX was Jamaican-owned or that we were bringing something different to the market.

There simply wasn’t room for us in their existing agreements.

So we asked a different question:

What if we built Casa JAMEX without depending on traditional distribution?

That question changed our strategy.

Instead of chasing retail shelf space, we’re building a direct-to-hospitality model: working with hotels, restaurants, and bars while developing a network of brand ambassadors who can introduce Casa JAMEX through tastings, events, and real relationships.

It may take more work than signing one big distribution deal.

But it also means building something closer to the people we created Casa JAMEX for.

Sometimes the obstacle doesn’t kill the idea.

It changes the model.
